Sleep disorders include most commonly Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is the extreme of snoring, where the throat opening
collapses and closes up when the patient goes to sleep, due to narrow opening and relaxed throat muscles.
The most common treatment is CPAP, a mask which applies gentle airway pressure which keeps the throat distended and prevents
Untreated Sleep Apnea causes daytime sleepiness, and increases the risk for heart attacks, strokes, hypertension, and irregular heart beat ( atrial fibrillation).
